When someone in your county searches "used cars finance" or "2021 Tucson for sale", the dealership at the top of that page gets the click. That's the whole promise of Google Ads: you only appear when someone is actively looking, and you only pay when they engage.

What a dealership campaign involves

Search campaigns put you in front of people typing buying-intent searches right now. The craft is in the keyword lists: bidding on the searches that mean money and blocking the ones that don't, like parts, manuals and "how to fix" queries that drain budget with zero chance of a sale.

Local targeting keeps your spend inside your real catchment area. A click from three counties away rarely turns into a test drive, so a well-built campaign draws a tight ring around the buyers who can actually reach your forecourt.

Stock-led ads perform best of all. Ads built around the cars you have in right now, updated as they sell, always beat a generic "great deals" ad running for months.

Where it goes wrong

Most wasted dealer ad spend comes down to the same few things: no negative keywords, targeting the whole country, sending clicks to a slow homepage instead of the actual car, and never checking which campaigns produce leads rather than clicks. Google will happily spend your budget either way.

The short version

Google Ads absolutely works for Irish dealerships, but it rewards attention and punishes set-and-forget. It needs weekly management by someone who knows both the platform and the trade.

That's us. At Marketing 4 Motors we build and manage stock-led campaigns for dealerships across Ireland, with reporting in cost per lead, not acronyms. Book a free call and we'll take a look at what you're currently spending and tell you honestly what we'd change.
